Making money online, it seems every day more people are looking ways to make money online either to boost their income as a secondary source of income, or as a full time job. But if you’re relatively new to this how do you make money online? I put together a list of 20 different ways you can make money on the internet. I’ve broken these down into two groups, ways you can make money without a website or blog, and ways you can with a website.

These ideas aren’t listed in any order of importance as some of them will work better for you then others.

First some ways you can make money without a website

1. Sell stuff on Ebay

Ebay is probably one of the best places to start making money online for a couple of reasons

a. You are almost 100% guaranteed to make some kind of sale. This is great to build experience and confidence when looking for different ways to make money online.

b. Ebay has huge volumes of traffic, so you’ll never have to worry about not finding people who are interested in virtually anything

2. Paid online surveys

This one can be hit or miss as there are a lot of survey sites that make big promises but are junk or scam sites. But if you have some spare time this can be a good way to earn some extra cash

3. Facebook

That’s right you can sell stuff on Facebook which has an application similar to Craigslist called Facebook Marketplace. This is a buy, sell and trade site that allows you to post as many ads as you want for free. The big benefit being that it’s currently the number one social network with almost a billion users, making the task of finding potential buyers for your stuff pretty easy.

4. Get paid to surf

Like paid survey sites there are a lot of scammers out there, so you really have to do your homework before you sign up for any of these. Generally when it comes to making money online these won’t deliver much income, but they are a good way to earn extra cash while doing other things online.

5. Sell pictures online

If you’re into photography there are many sites that you can upload your pictures to and make money from people who pay to use those pictures on their websites and blogs. What’s nice about this is that you can sell those same images again and again.

6. Share your files and get paid

Sites like docstoc.com and ziddu.com are just a couple of the sites out there where you can upload your files and get paid from people downloading them.

7. Record songs and sell online

This one is obviously for those who have good vocal chops; people like me who sound like a cat being fed into a wood chipper should not attempt this one. But if you can sing or play an instrument or both this is another way to be making money online.

8. Write an e-book

If you want to be a writer now you can. Sites like CreateSpace all you to self publish your own e-books.

9. Get paid to read emails

Just as the title would suggest, you get paid for reading emails. Everyday you get emails with links to different websites which you have to click and view for a few seconds. It doesn’t pay much and is packed full of scams so like with survey’s or being paid to surf, do your homework and check reviews to see if the service your interest in is legit.

10. Become a Youtube partner

If you like making videos this can be a great source of online income. To qualify as a YouTube partner you need to have videos that are 100% your content, videos with thousands of hits and lots of subscribers and friends, so this will take a considerable amount of work to get to that level.

And now how to make money online with your website

1. Flip websites and domain names

Just like real estate a prime domain name or website can net a lot of cash. Buy a good domain name and build a website or blog around it. Once that site gets to a good point sell it or a profit. Sites like Flippa.com lets you advertise websites for sale and to buy.

2. Pay per post

Another way to make money online is to write blog posts for companies advertising their products. Sites like Pay Per Post allow you to bid on products you want to write reviews on. These review posts can then be added to your website or blog giving you extra content.

3. Sell advertising space

If your website or blog is getting a good volume of traffic you can sell advertising space on your site. Rather then just having the standard Google Adsense or similar advertisements that pay different amounts depending on the keywords you use, or the ads that are displayed. Advertising space allows you to negotiate a fixed amount per month an advertiser has to pay you to have their ad displayed on your site, giving you more control over what you can earn.

4. Affiliate programs

This is where you essentially sell other people’s products and make a commission from them. It’s also one of the most widely used ways to make money online with a website or blog.

5. RSS feed ads

Your RSS feed isn’t just a way to get people to subscribe and return to your site, it’s also a way to earn revenue. There are a couple ways you can do this; the first is to simply use an RSS feed service that allows you to place advertisements on it. The second way is to take a feed that you’re currently not able to advertise on like Rapid Feeds (If you’re using their free feed service) and converting it over to Feedburner which can display Google Adsense ads.

6. Premium content

Some websites if popular enough will have premium or members only sections on their sites. In order to access these members only areas visitors are charged a fee. Be careful when using this one as I’ve seen this method actually kill traffic to sites that started charging people to view certain pages. But if your site is very popular it’s at least worth looking into.

7. Paid surveys and polls

There are services out there that will actually pay you to have polls or surveys on your site.

8. Pay pal donations

A simply way to make money online is to simply ad a donate button on your site using Pay Pal. Don’t like the standard donation button, you can always create your own custom button that better fit’s the look and feel of your website.

9. Sell t-shirts

Sites like Cafepress allow you to create your own customized t-shirts with your logo or message that you can sell on your site. It’s also a good way to get some free advertising if you include your sites URL into the t-shirt design.

10. Create an online store

Like Cafepress Amazon has a similar feature where you can create your own online store and sell items and get paid a commission for every item you sell. You can customize the look of your online store so it matches to look of your site, and sell as many items as you want from it. Amazon also offers widgets you can place on the other pages of your site to display products from your store.
