50 Web Directories You Can Submit Your Website To








Back in the day if you wanted your website or blog to get indexed fast by the search engines, you would submit it to website directories. Are they still worth submitting to today? For the most part yes. Submitting your site to website directories can still be an effective way at building back links that’ll help you rank higher in search results and should be part of your overall SEO strategy. This is especially true for new websites and blogs were getting back links from other webmasters can be difficult.








Below I’ve put together a list of 50 website directories that are SEO friendly. These are all general web directories, meaning that they don’t cater to any one particular niche, location or audience. Hope this list helps, please stumble or digg it if it does. Also let me know of any of the directories listed below don’t work or are no longer a web directory so I can keep this list up to date.
































































































































































































































































































































































There are thousands of other website directories out there that you can submit your site to. This doesn’t mean though that you should submit to all of them. Not all web directories are created equal and there are lots of them that will offer no value to your site or even worse, drag it down. So when submitting your site to website directories always look for the following



1. Does it have any page rank? While page rank in itself shouldn’t be the biggest factor it’s a good indicator if that web directory has been devalued. These sites also won’t transfer any link value to your site. They probably also won’t show up very high in search results meaning they could bring no traffic.





2. Does it look spammy? Web directories choked full of spam and advertisements should be avoided. If they have page rank it could simply mean that Google has de valued them yet 





3. Does the web design look like a 3 year old barfed on your screen? One of the big things Google’s panda update looks at is the overall quality of a web sites appearance. If it looks like a throwback from the 90’s or poor navigation it’s not going to rank well and won’t really offer anything for your site.





4. No editorial guidelines. If there’s nothing listed anywhere on a particular web directory about what kind of sites are allowed or not allowed, or the review process in general I would think twice about submitting a link to that site. No editorial guidelines means your site could be listed beside Joe Bloggins porn/gambling site. So unless your site is about porn or gambling I would avoid these.
